When thoughts keep spinning
When everything is on at once, we choose just one thing.
A scattered feeling often comes from overload: too many open things at the same time. The mind tries to solve everything at once and therefore finishes nothing.
Unloading starts by moving the thoughts out of your head onto paper or into words.
You don't have to solve the whole situation today. The next step is enough.
Once things are visible, you can sort them into three groups: now, later and not my responsibility. You don't have to carry everything at once, and you don't have to answer every thought immediately.
Three small steps
- Write a list of everything spinning in your head, in no particular order.
- Circle one item on the list that concerns today.
- Turn it into the smallest possible step – not the whole thing, just the start.
