Anger · 2 min

When everything boils inside

Anger is energy and information. It tells you a boundary was crossed.

Anger is not a wrong feeling. It often rises from hurt, fear or helplessness – underneath anger there is usually something more vulnerable.

The energy of anger lives in the body. When it is allowed to move safely, thinking becomes clearer.

Important conversations are best had after the boiling has settled. What is said in anger is hard to take back.

Once you have calmed a little, you can ask yourself what your anger is trying to protect. Perhaps you need space, fairness, an apology or a clearer boundary. Naming the need helps you choose the next step.

Three small steps

  1. Move hard for two minutes: walk, squat, squeeze a pillow.
  2. Write the thing you are not going to send to anyone.
  3. Name one boundary that was crossed.
